Reverse Sculptures
A sculptor begins with inanimate material, like clay or marble, and in shaping a human statue he or she animates that material. That general concept is taken 360 degrees in this exercise such that humans are turned into statues of humans. Employing the use of one's imagination, a portion of the form appears to be quite human while another portion has the appearance of a statue or a mannequin. These bodies are in flux between animate and inanimate states of existence. Are the humans becoming statues, or are the statues coming to life?
