Frame Series
We communicate in many ways. One is the manner in which we present ourselves. Our choice of clothing, our hair styles, our body language, our use of physical touch, and of course, our use of language, to name but a few. Like it or not, presentation is undeniably an important means by which we evaluate our surroundings.
The matting and framing of art is all about presentation. The photographs in this series are about self-presentation. In a sense, they are portraits. To what extent did the humans or other objects frame themselves? To what extent do we, the observers, place them within the confines of the frame?
